新概念英语第三册学习笔记：第12课 Life on a Desert Island

第一段词汇解析

①picture = image。

②形近词 dessert 是点心。

③paradise = heaven = the garden of Eden。

④wretched = miserable。

⑤starve to death = die of hunger。

⑥an element of truth =a bit of truth，另 element = ingredient。

⑦opportunity = chance。

第二段词汇解析

①wish 作谓语动词，其后的宾语从句要用虚拟语气， 1)表对现在的遗憾或与现在相反的情况从句用过去时， be 用 were； 2)与过去相反则用过去完成时； 3)与将来则用 would/could+v.原形。虚拟语气是重点，一定要熟练掌握。

②repaired = fixed, mended。

③dinghy = small boat。

④loaded = filled, stacked。 load…with 把…装到…上。

⑤did not prove to be = turned out to be。

⑥的确是油轮而不是邮轮、游轮； tank 则是水箱、坦克。
